Analysis: 40% of people in Bratislava earn less than average salary

Two fifths of all residents in Bratislava receive less than the country's average salary which is €897 per month, according to a Poštová banka analysis released on Monday. As many as 55 percent of Slovaks last year earned less than €900 gross per month, while 7 percent saw less than €450 on their payrolls. "Around one fifth of people in full-time jobs were in the area of €900-1,200 per month, while 10 percent earned between €1,200-1,500 gross. Only 14 percent of people working full-time could boast of their salaries exceeding €1,500. Meanwhile, only 6 percent out of them earned more than €2,000 gross per month," said bank analyst Jana Glasová. As few as 5 percent of people earned less than €450 per month in Bratislava region; conversely, 14 percent had more than €2,000.
