Almost a tonne of waste was collected by volunteers that participated in cleaning the banks of the river Danube last weekend. The initiative entitled A day for the Danube was held last Saturday in more than 40 towns and villages lining the largest Slovak river. Its aim was to point at the need to change the waste policy in Slovakia. The event was part of the International Danube Day celebrated on Thursday this week.
