Since Wednesday evening, firefighters have been trying to put out a fire which started between the villages of Láb and Jakubov, in the western Slovak region of Záhorie. The fire has spread over a forested area of 3 square kilometres, partially due to the strong wind. During the night, the firefighters managed to contain it, but there are still over 200 professional and volunteer firefighters with 70 appliances are at the site. Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák confirmed that since the fire has been contained, it will not endanger the oil and gas reservoirs located in Záhorie.
