Residents of the towns of Prešov and Ružomberok have been holding demonstrations for faster highway construction by blocking road traffic. This was reported in the Pravda daily on Tuesday. The National Highway Company (NDS) has currently prepared the construction of the first stage of Prešov's northern bypass on the R3 expressway, however the protestors want to draw attention to the missing northern bypass around Prešov on the R4 expressway by blocking road traffic. The bypass's construction, comprising two sections, has come to a halt because of a lack of financial resources, with European funds having already been exhausted until 2020. The Transport Ministry claims that loosening the debt brake would help.
