Slovakia's victory over Ukraine on Tuesday evening in the 2017 European Women's Basketball Championship has resulted in the Slovak team moving to Thursday's participation in the quarter-finals after eight years of effort. The Slovaks fought amongst the top eight teams; defeating Ukraine 82:68. Team captain Zuzana Žirková was the star player, scoring 31 points.
