The Defence Ministry wants to have an analysis of bids for new fighter jets completed by the end of September at the latest, Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš told TASR last weekend. Slovakia wants to replace its Mig-29 fighter jets, whose lifespan is already ending. In late 2016, the ministry said that it was expecting bids from several countries. Meanwhile, Slovakia has been holding talks on JAS-39 Gripen fighters with Sweden since March 2015. The Defence Minister wants to submit the document to a Cabinet session as soon as the analysis is completed. "It will definitely be by the end of September, but we'd like to do it earlier," said Gajdoš.
