As of Thursday, June 15th, citizens of the EU visiting other Union member states will be able to phone, text and use mobile internet data without extra charges. This step was approved on April 25th this year. Shortly after June 15th, the measure will come into effect even in the non-EU member states of Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway. If customers buy programmes in the cheapest states and subsequently use it for roaming in the country of their residence, the EU will consider it as misuse and will fight against it. Moreover, there are specific rules for programs with unlimited data and pre-paid cards. The negotiations on the topic took a long time due to disputes between the south and north of the EU. The southern states with attractive tourist destinations argued that they would have higher costs due to the more frequent use of roaming. The most difficult part of the agreement was reaching an agreement on the price of mobile data.
