About 3,500 people joined two anti-corruption protests organised by secondary school students in the towns of Žilina and Prešov on Monday. They followed up on similar events that took place a week ago in Bratislava and Košice when participants asked for the resignation of the Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák, police chief Tibor Gašpar and the special prosecutor Dušan Kováčik, whom they blame for the lack of serious investigation into corruption cases. According to one of the protest organisers in Žilina, student Michaela Knosková, it was an apolitical and non-partisan event, without support from any political party and organised as a student initiative. "The goal of the students is to demonstrate that people are aware of the critical situation that Slovakia currently finds itself in. And they won't even talk about it, but will resort to deeds because the deed did happen. And it is students who want to repay the deed with their deed," she said. The Interior Minister, however, has no intention to resign, the same applies to the special prosecutor Dušan Kováčik.
