Marek Hamšík was one of the main protagonists in Slovakia's victory on Saturday over Lithuania (2: 1) within the F-group of the European Qualification for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The 29-year old Slovak midfielder and star of Italian SSC Napoli scored Slovakia's second goal from a free-kick against the Lithuanian goalie Emilijus Zubas. Slovakia maintains its second place in the qualifying F-group with a real chance to compete for the upcoming World Championship. According to Slovakia's head coach Ján Kozák, such a position gives the team hopes for the autumn part of the qualifiers. Slovakia will play against Slovenia on September 1 and England on September 4.
