Had a general election been held in Slovakia in late May or early June, 26.2 percent of people would have voted for the governing Smer-SD party, which is equivalent to 44 lawmakers in Parliament. The poll was conducted by the Focus agency. This percentage is a historical low for the party led by Prime Minister Robert Fico. The poll was conducted on a sample of 1,012 respondents between May 31 and June 4. It showed the opposition Freedom and Solidarity party coming second with 13.4 percent, or 22 seats in the House. The far-right People's Party Our Slovakia came third with 10.9 percent of votes and would have sent 18 of its representatives into Parliament. Other parties that would have made it into the Slovak parliament are the Slovak National Party, OLaNO-NOVA, We Are Family, Most-Hid and the Christian Democrats. The current coalition would not be able to form a cabinet.
