The average nominal monthly salary in Slovakia reached €897 in the first quarter of 2017, a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Wednesday. At the same time, a low rise in consumer prices coupled with a rise in the nominal salary resulted in a year-on-year increase of 2.6 percent in real salaries. The highest average nominal monthly salaries of approximately €1,700 were recorded in the sectors of financial and insurance activities, information and communications activities and in supplies of electricity, gas and steam. Conversely, the lowest average nominal salaries were recorded in accommodation and catering services at €507.
