According to the Legal Advisor for the European Commission (EC) Georgios Zavvos, for the past 20 years Slovakia has been a success story. He said so at the From the European Banking Union to a political Europe: a litmus test of the European Union conference in Bratislava.
On Tuesday Zavvos believes that the Slovak economy has transformed itself into a fully fledged market economy, with its growth rate and its gross domestic product currently ranking among the strongest among EU states. “You have entered the European Union (2004). Although it wasn't without difficulties, you adjusted all your institutions and also joined the eurozone (2009),” said Zavvos, adding that Slovakia's most important asset is its human capital, especially its younger generation.
