One third of all Slovaks aged 15 to 34 have experience with marijuana, making it the most commonly used illicit drug in Slovakia, while the highest number of Slovak drug addicts are those who are treated for methamphetamine addition. This steams from a report released on Wednesday (7-7) by the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). Nearly ten percent of Slovakia's younger population surveyed by the EU agency admitted that they had used marijuana within the past year, even though being caught with the substance remains a criminal offense which can result in prison sentences. The ruling coalition has made no mention of following the growing global trend of decriminalising or legalising the substance.
