Faster InterCity (IC) trains, the resuming of direct Bratislava-Zvolen-Košice train services and a change in the name of some fast trains is promised in a new train timetable coming into operation as of June 11. This was reported in the Hospodárske Noviny daily on Tuesday. A mobile phone will be enough to travel by state-run passenger trains and having no option but to queue in front of cash desks at stations should also become history. Tomáš Kováč, a spokesman for the state-run rail passenger carrier Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK) told the daily that the biggest change will be a reduced travel time of IC trains on the Bratislava-Žilina- Košice route by 12-15 minutes. In the upcoming summer season, direct seasonal sleeping cars operated by the Czech state-run railway company České Dráhy will be dispatched from Prague via Bratislava to Croatia and from Prague via Bratislava to Montenegro.
