Slovak slalom canoeist Alexander Slafkovský won a gold medal in the C1 discipline at the European Championship in Tancen, Slovenia on Sunday. He defeated the Swiss Thomas Köchlin by 2.71 seconds. Thanks to Michal Martikán, Slovakia also earned a bronze medal in this discipline. Another Slovak, Matej Beňuš, silver medallist from the Rio Summer Olympics 2016, ended in fifth place.
