A member of the Special Tasks Fifth Regiment was decorated with a medal for valour by US Ambassador to Slovakia Adam Sterling in the village of Polomka. On the night of August 7-8, 2015, the soldier's prompt response to an attack on Camp Integrity in Afghanistan directly contributed to preserving the security and safety of hundreds of soldiers from a number of countries stationed there. This extraordinary act of courage was recognised by the US ambassador at the official ceremony in Polomka, where, along with British Ambassador to Slovakia Andrew Garth, he unveiled a commemorative plaque with the names of members of American and British special forces who were deployed to occupied Slovakia during the Slovak National Uprising of 1944.
