Slovakia had to return as much as 16% of resources drawn from European Union's structural funds between 2013 and 2016, announced the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) on Wednesday. In its annual report, OLAF notes that in the case of Slovakia fund-drawing related mistakes were made in 1360 cases, with the majority of the irregularities being detected by the Slovak controlling authorities. While the Slovak MEP for the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats Vladimír Maňka attributes this situation to the good work of supervisory bodies, Richard Sulík from the European Conservatives and Reformists Group sees widespread corruption behind the problems with EU fund-drawing. From among all the EU Member States, Slovakia had to return the most finances back to the EU.
