As of December, Slovakia will have two more military representatives to NATO and EU offices, according to the proposal for upgrading Slovak military representation in the military structures of NATO and EUFOR (European Union Forces).
“At present the Slovak representation is made of 70 members of the Armed Forces, while as of December 16, 2013 the number of the Armed Forces members is expected to increase to 72,” reads the proposal, which is now up for inter-ministerial comment. By this, the Defence Ministry responds to changes in the structures of NATO - especially in NATO command, within which Slovak soldiers operate. The operational costs of the Slovak military representation in NATO and EU structures represent approximately €8.8 million for this year. Members of the Armed Forces operate in different structures of NATO and the EU in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland.
