Prima Banka to take over Sberbank Slovensko as of August 1

Sberbank Slovensko will be taken over by Prima Banka Slovensko as of August 1 following a decision to this effect that the shareholders of the two companies made at their respective extraordinary general meetings. After the takeover, clients of Sberbank Slovensko will continue to be able to use their standard products and services just as they have up to now. The Penta Investments group announced in July of last year that it had acquired a 99.5-percent stake in Sberbank Slovensko. The acquisition was earlier okayed by the European Central Bank and Slovakia's Anti-monopoly Office. Penta has been active on the banking market since 2007, when it became the sole owner of Privatbanka. In 2011, it gained a majority stake in Dexia banka, which focused mainly on retail customers and the funding of municipalities. This bank was later renamed Prima Banka.
