The European Commission has approved state support of €36 million towards constructing a national football stadium in Bratislava, TASR learnt from Zuzana Harvanová of the European Commission's Representation in Slovakia on Wednesday. The Commission concluded that the measure will help promote sport and culture without disturbing competition on the single market, moreover the public funding granted to the stadium is in line with EU state aid rules. The new football stadium will seat more than 22,000 spectators. The state has committed itself to completing and purchasing the non-commercial part of the stadium.
