The final version of the National Programme for Developing Education entitled "Learning Slovakia" should be prepared by the end of August and subsequently submitted to the Cabinet and Parliament, Education Minister Peter Plavčan (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) confirmed at a meeting of the parliamentary education committee on Monday. The document deals with changes to pre-school education, the work of teachers, regional and university education and changes in university accreditation. The quality of preparing future teachers should increase, as well as support for teachers in the form of assistants, allowing teachers to focus only on teaching. The wording of the reform itself should be completed by the first action plan. It will be drafted to cover a period of two years and will also contain details of financing. Around 4,000 remarks on the document were received by the Education Ministry during the comments period. These should be factored into the document by the end of August.
