The Agriculture ministry is going to support beekeepers more, through a new National plan of stabilisation and development for Slovak apiarists. More than a million euro per year was allocated for the professionals for the next three year period. Minister Gabriela Matečná stressed the importance of investing into making this activity attractive for young people. The average age of beekeepers in Slovakia is 60. On the other hand, she appreciated the fact that Slovakia is one of the few EU countries with an increasing number of bee-keepers.
