New dispossession changes for road construction processes

Some construction-related works will be legally allowed on land where future highways and roads are to be built even before they are dispossessed. This stems from an amendment to the Act on One-Off Extraordinary Measures in Preparation for the Construction of Some Highways and Roads approved by the Government on Wednesday. Parliament is scheduled to deliberate on the bill, designed to come into effect as of May 15, in a fast-tracked procedure. Based on the approved draft, the complicated process of expropriation should be facilitated by establishing a new legal institute of preliminary possession that will allow carrying out pre-defined and removable work to the extent necessary before the end of the expropriation process. The Transport Ministry is responding with this draft bill to the situation surrounding the planned construction of the Bratislava ring road on the D4 highway and the adjacent R7 expressway.
