Two men die in police helicopter crash near Prešov

An accident involving a police helicopter (Bell 429) that crashed at the military airport in Prešov shortly before 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday has claimed the life of two people - both members of the Fire and Rescue Corps. According to the tvnoviny.sk website, one man died on the spot and the second in a hospital in Košice. The rest of the crew that was on board the helicopter - two police officers - were transported to a hospital in Prešov and their condition is stable, but critical. The helicopter took off as part of an exercise. "The accident took place at a height of 100 metres and 200 metres away from the point of departure," said the police, adding that further information will be provided later. Neither the Interior Ministry not the police commented on the cause of the accident.
