Twelve candidates contest for post of RTVS director

Twelve candidates are running for the post of general director of Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS). The deadline for submitting applications lapsed on Wednesday, May 10. Among the contenders vying for this post in the public service RTVS are the current RTVS director Václav Mika, general director of TASR news agency Jaroslav Rezník, advertising tycoons Fedor Flašík and Michal Ruttkay as well as former TV Markíza director Zuzana Ťapáková. Once the parliament's media committee members have checked whether all applicants meet the necessary requirements, they will be invited to a public hearing slated for May 30. Applicants for the post were asked to enclose their project for RTVS management and development ranging from 20 to 50 pages, an extract from a criminal record not older than three months and a curriculum vitae.
