Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák met with the UN Secretary General in New York. Among the topics discussed were rising tensions on the Korean peninsula due to ballistic missiles testing, the continuing conflict in Syria, developments in the Middle East as well as UN reforms regarding peace operations. According to the Slovak Minister, it is necessary to restore trust in the UN as millions of people in many different countries depend on it. At the same time, he called for engaging citizens' interest in what is happening around the world. "The world around us is changing rapidly and we can't just stand by, but need to adjust to these changes," said Miroslav Lajčák. He highly appreciated the steps taken by Antonio Guterres to improve the work of the UN since his appointment.
