The parliament did not vote on ousting its speaker

The Speaker of the Slovak parliament, Andrej Danko, did not face a vote on his ousting in parliament today. Only 54 MPs out of the 131 MPs present endorsed the agenda of the extraordinary session, which meant that the session was not even opened. MPs from the coalition parties Smer - SD, Slovak National Party and Most-Híd did not support the opposition's initiative, which was aimed at confronting Andrej Danko with the case of supervising the employees of the Parliament Office who, according to the opposition MP and OĽANO-NOVA party leader Igor Matovič, have been reading letters sent to MPs without the intended recipients being aware of this fact. According to PM Robert Fico, the mistake was made on the side of the office's employee, who should be punished, not Andrej Danko.
