Interior Minister Róbert Kaliňák (Smer-SD) is entertaining the notion of centralising the collection of all fines imposed by state bodies under the remit of his ministry. This means that a specialised central authority to enforce fines could be created and staffed by approximately one hundred employees. Kaliňák would like to locate it in central Slovakia and extend employment to people with disabilities as well. The purpose of the new authority is to facilitate the handling of the current burden stemming from processing a large number of fines. This would also alleviate the load that is currently weighing down the Transport and Construction Ministry and the National Highway Company regarding the fines for highway stickers.
