The public health sector will receive more money this year, said Finance Minister Peter Kažimír in an interview with the Hospodárske noviny daily. "I'll admit that what [Health] Minister [Tomáš] Drucker wants the most, and what I am the most opposed to; and that is an increase in payments for state insurees," he told the daily. The head of the finance department wishes to present specific figures before the summer holidays, increasing the financial capital of the state health insurer Všeobecná zdravotná poisťovňa. The government should also introduce a roadmap for deleveraging medical facilities. According to RTVS, last year's health debt grew by almost €100 million, with overdue payables reaching almost €650 million at the end of 2016.
