It seems that for the first time in history, Slovakia will not have a single NHL player at the World Ice-Hockey Championship. All eleven hockey players whose season in the North American clubs has ended, have for various reasons refused to play in the national jersey at the upcoming championship in Germany and France. The last to decline the national team invite was the Toronto Maple Leafs defender Martin Marinčin, who on Wednesday announced his decision based on health complications. There are two more Slovaks in action in the playoffs overseas.
