The Slovak energy market is regulated in a non-transparent way whereby the regulation is not underpinned by an economic analysis. Its environment is therefore unpredictable, which has negative impact on charges, long-term investments and long-lasting contracts, the European Commission (EC) writes in its report, joining the critical voices of analysts and energy companies.
Critics particularly dislike the regulation methods, regulated gas and electricity prices for households and the transmission fees. However, the Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO), which is in charge of regulation, disagrees with this criticism.
