Slovak Ambassador to the United Kingdom Ľubomír Rehák has won a European Diplomat of the Year award, bestowed by London-based magazine Diplomat on Monday (April 24), TASR learnt from the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry press department on yesterday (25-4). "I perceive the award not only as recognition of my work but of all the activities of the entire Slovak Embassy in London. I believe that the award reflects a positive evaluation of the Slovak Presidency of the EU Council in second half of 2016, which was quite challenging for London particularly after the United Kingdom made its decision in the Brexit referendum to leave the EU," said Rehák. The European Diplomat of the Year was awarded in ten categories, based on votes from more than 20,000 members of diplomatic corps from more than 180 diplomatic missions in London. In 2015 he was appointed by President Andrej Kiska as the extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Court of St. James of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
