A direct train service on the Bratislava-Košice route via Zvolen might be resumed concurrently with the planned change of the train timetable in June. "I think that the railway company is ready for it," stated the Transport Ministry Árpád Érsek (Most-Híd). People should be able to use this direct connection every four hours. A direct train service between Bratislava to Košice via Zvolen was in effect in the past. However, a fast train service from Bratislava to Banská Bystrica was introduced in December 2015, with passengers travelling from Bratislava to Košice via this route having to switch trains in Zvolen.
