Slovakia does not want to become involved in the military conflict in Syria, since it believes in a political solution on an international level, said Foreign and European Affairs Ministry State Secretary Lukáš Parízek on the public broadcaster RTVS's politics programme on Sunday. Parízek said this in reaction to the US attack on the Shayrat airbase in Syria, which came in retaliation against the chemical attack on the town of Khan Shaykhun in which civilians were killed. By this step, the United States presented the international community with a 'fait accompli', he stated. Nevertheless, Slovakia is active in the Syrian conflict, as "Our hand is visible in humanitarian aid," added Parízek.
