Italian police have caught a Slovak truck driver who was carrying 1.4 tons of marijuana in his vehicle, wrote the Aktuality.sk website, referring to the Italian ANSA agency. The 42-year old driver, who was driving from southern Italy to Belgium was caught in the town of Silandro in the region of southern Tirol. According to police, there were various types of plants and trees in the cargo space apart from the drug. As Peter Susko, spokesperson of the Slovak Foreign Ministry said for TASR, he is only aware of the case from the media. "Neither the driver, nor Italian officials have contacted our embassy with a request for cooperation," said Susko adding that the Slovak Embassy in Rome was ready to provide assistance if requested for cooperation in the case.
