Construction sector expected to grow in 2017

Eight out of ten directors of construction companies in Slovakia are hopeful that after a 10.7% slump year-on-year in 2016, the sector will grow again in 2017, wrote TASR on Monday. According to a Quarterly Analysis of the Slovak Construction Sector released by CEEC Research, the sector should grow by 3.8% this year and by 2.4% in 2018 and income should grow even faster. Big construction companies appeared in the survey as the most confident, estimating their output growth above the average. Conversely, companies focusing on engineering constructions appeared to be relatively more pessimistic, predicting a relatively smaller increase. The research also looked into the prices of construction work. As many as 63% of construction firms in the survey indicated that they would keep their prices flat this year, while 36% of firms wanted to increase their bills, and only a mere 1% were planning to make their work cheaper.
