President Meets Israeli Prime Minister for security talks

It's important that the European Union and Israel have good relations, stated Slovak President Andrej Kiska after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Thursday. The key theme of the meeting was the security challenges for both countries. Kiska and Netanyahu spoke about cooperation in cyber defence and the automotive industry. Israel has more than 500 innovative companies in the automotive industry, a sector that has great importance for Slovakia as well. Kiska, who travelled to Israel at the invitation of its President Reuven Rivlin, held talks with both his counterpart and the prime minister concerning bilateral cooperation and current issues in foreign policy. Kiska's programme also included a trip to Ramallah to meet Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah. In addition, Kiska visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial. The Slovak president has been accompanied on his trip by Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák and a group of Slovak entrepreneurs, academics, scientists and NGO figures. Kiska returned to Slovakia on Thursday evening.
