The low cost airline Wizz Air will launch a Košice-Tel Aviv route starting in late June, Kosice Airport's marketing manager Juraj Tóth explained to TASR on Tuesday. The new route will be operated as of June 23 twice a week all year round - on Mondays and Wednesdays for the summer timetable (March 26 to October 28) and on Wednesdays and Sundays during the winter schedule. "As of June 23 our customers will be able to discover Tel Aviv's fascinating heritage and sunny coastline, whether travelling for holiday or business," said Wizz Air's communications manager Sorina Ratz. Košice Airport CEO and board chairman Michael Tmej said that the new route opens up a two-way avenue for developing tourism. "The new service will make it much easier for Slovak pilgrims to visit the Holy Land. Conversely, we hope that Israeli tourists will discover our beautiful region and that Israeli students in Kosice will have an easier time travelling home or receiving visitors from their homeland. In the summer the Kosice-Tel Aviv service will be the only non-stop connection between Slovakia and Israel," said Tmej.
