Police Target Motorists Not Stopping for Pedestrians

Slovak police focused their efforts on motorists who refuse to stop of pedestrian crossings this morning, the October 28, with a blitz aimed at reducing pedestrian injuries and deaths in the nation’s capital.

“From 8AM to 10AM traffic police increased in numbers to supervise the safety and smoothness of traffic flow, during which a particular focus was placed on the compliance of the obligations of drivers towards pedestrians,” said Bratislava County police spokeswoman Karina Považanová. The spokeswoman stressed that regular road users and in particular motorcyclists will not escape an increased level of police attention. “We focused primarily on those offenses which are often major causes of serious accidents,” added Považanová.
