Slovak beer turns Japanese

Japanese beer giant Asahi will take over the assets in several big central European breweries as of the beginning of April. The European Commission has recently approved the agreement of sale of Czech Pilsner Urquell and Slovak Topvar among others. As of April 3, Asahi will become the new owner of the biggest beer producer in the Czech Republic. The group of central European breweries was run by SABMiller that was merged with the world leader AB InBev last year. The European antimonopoly office ordered AB InBev to sell a part of its assets due to possible dominance on the market.
