At a joint press conference on Wednesday the leaders of the three ruling coalition parties, Smer-SD, SNS and Most-Híd, announced a compromise solution to the ongoing problem of the Mečiar amnesties. The three have proposed amendments to the Slovak constitution, allowing the government of the Slovak Republic the authority to deal with future amnesty disputes and presidential pardons. The proposal was submitted to be discussed in today's (15-3) parliamentary session.
