Golden plaque awarded to outgoing Spanish ambassador

Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák awarded outgoing Spanish Ambassador Felix Valdes with the ministry's Golden Plaque on Tuesday, for what Lajcak described as the ambassador's extraordinary personal contribution towards developing Slovak-Spanish relations. This was reported by TASR, relayed from the ministry's press department. "During the meeting, Lajčák highly praised the ambassador's five-year performance and involvement in the development of bilateral relations, not only political, but also economic ones. Felix Valdes helped to launch several investment projects in Slovakia, including for the construction and operation of highway sections, contractor services for the automotive industry and others," stated the ministry. Slovakia has also been developing cooperation with Spain in the field of education, culture and sport. This cooperation should be made more official by the inking of a cooperation programme on the earliest suitable occasion, said the ministry.
