Industrial output recorded a year-on-year growth of 7.6 percent in January this year, fuelled by a growth of 19.1 percent in mining and quarrying, 14.2 percent in supplies of electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning components and of 6.3 percent in industrial manufacturing, according to the Statistics Office. Among specialised industry segments contributing to overall growth in production, the biggest hikes were recorded in the production of metals and metal structures excluding machinery and equipment and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning components. Conversely, production of computer, electronic and optical products fell by 18.6 percent.
