In 2016, 66,000 citizens from so-called 'third countries' had permanent residence in Slovakia, reads a document published by the police force cited by SITA. The so-called 'third countries' are foreign countries outside the EU. As many as 6,500 people from third countries had temporary residence in Slovakia and 370 people were listed on the 'tolerated residence' list. Most of the foreigners from outside the EU in Slovakia come from Ukraine, Serbia, Russia and Vietnam.
