President Andrej Kiska, along with spectators and various personalities from political and social life, attended the Wednesday premiere of the first political thriller in the history of post-revolutionary Slovak cinematography. According to TASR, the plot of the new film Unos (Kidnapping) describes the events surrounding the 1995 abduction of then president Michal Kováč's son Michal Kováč Jr. as well as the alleged links between the crime, the mafia, the intelligence service and power in the mid-1990s. "It's an extremely sad film and the saddest fact about the film is that it's based on true events," said Kiska. Culture Minister Marek Maďarič (Smer-SD) considers Unos to be a very powerful and well-made film. "I was asking myself how it can be perceived by foreign audiences and people who weren't alive at that time. I as a person living at that time and perceiving the things that influenced the creation of this movie, I was being constantly confronted with it," said Maďarič about the new political thriller, adding that certain scenes in the movie were very emotive. The film opened in Slovak movie theatres as of Thursday.
