A proposal from the Austrian People's Party (OVP) would see child benefits cut from the current €150 to some €95, with this measure applying to those parents whose children don't live in Austria. This was reported by the Pravda daily on Wednesday, asking the question whether Slovaks will thus lose their motivation to work in Austria. Such a restriction will affect mainly employees from Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Romania, according to the daily. The European Commission argues that the measure isn't in line with European law, however.
