Prime Minister Robert Fico is in Brussels at a two day EU summit on boosting co-operation in economic policies, a banking union supervising over banks, the digital economy and innovations.
The EU wants to have a common digital market by 2015 which will require member states to agree on issues related to industry, tax policies and data protection. As the Slovak Prime Minister Fico stated, this summit is taking place at a time when economic indicators in the EU have improved, however, he does not consider the crisis over yet. Fico feels that we are lagging behind considerably in the sectors of the digital economy and innovation. As he claims, digital economy is key for growth, competitiveness, and employment and he will support its development.
