Peter Sagan opens Classics with first and second place

Slovak road cyclist Peter Sagan collected more successes, finishing second and first in the first two races of the opening weekend of the Classics. On Saturday, Sagan, who is a new member of the Bora-Hansgrohe team, was the second to cross the finish line at the semi-Classic Omloop Het Nieuwsblad race in Belgium, upgraded to the WorldTour this year. He was defeated by Olympic winner Greg Van Avermaet of the BMC team. "I did not have the legs to beat Greg. I am satisfied with my first race this month," said Sagan. On Sunday, the 27-year-old originally from Žilina gained his first Victory in 2017 finishing the 69th edition of the Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne race with a dominant sprint. "I want to thank the entire team for their support, everyone did a great job. It was crucial that I was in front during the decisive moments of the race," said the Slovak, who is the current world champion for the second time in a row, in an interview after the race.
