Police investigating predators on popular chat site

Police are looking into the behaviour of several people on the biggest Slovak chat website Pokec.sk, reported the SME daily on Tuesday. The investigators are focusing on messages containing sexual offers and innuendoes that are being sent to minors via the website. The issue gained the attention of the public as well as the police after last week when the daily set up a fictional profile of a 12-year-old girl on Pokec.sk who was contacted by 62 people in six days. Aside from five messages, all were presumably sent by men, boys or users with men-like nicknames, according to the daily. "What would you do if I took off your swimming suit in the pool?" or "Would you watch me as I come?" were some of the messages sent to the fictional 12-year-old girl. The daily further notes that the effectiveness of resolving cases like these isn't very high, as the police have managed to investigate only six similar cases over the last five years. In addition to the police, the website itself has already taken certain measures against the dubious profiles. It has examined the activities of the questionable nicknames published by the daily and has consequently blocked part of their profiles.
