Slovakia has been successful with two energy projects in this year's EU 'competition' concerning the funding of priority European infrastructure projects, wrote TASR on Monday. One of the projects is for providing gas interconnections between Slovakia and Poland, while the other concerns a feasibility study for the Eastring pipeline project. Both selected projects are sponsored by Slovak gas transport operator Eustream. Last week, representatives from EU-member states approved the allocation of €444 million to 18 selected European priority energy infrastructure projects, with the Slovak ones being among them. The money will be provided from the EU's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) fund. The chosen projects are aimed at maintaining interconnecting European energy networks, guaranteeing greater security for energy supplies and improving the prospects of renewable energy sources in the EU.
